His mother, Ann Paula “Nancy” (née Carolan) Cusack, was a political activist and math teacher from Massachusetts, and his father, Richard J. Cusack, was a writer, actor, producer, and documentary filmmaker from New York City. Bill Cusack, Susie Cusack, Ann, and Joan Cusack are his siblings. Actresses Ann and Joan are his sisters.
